Real Cuties Game Blog- Fable 2, Part 3
I finished it. ‘Fable 2′ has been beaten! Considering I gave up on the original after maybe three quests that is a huge achievment.
I didn’t get back pretty looking, so I decided to just have fun with it. I wanted to try get Kate Moss thin- heroine chic dontcha know?- but I didn’t get time to eat enough celery before I started on the beginning of the end. So I settled for dying my clothes to look like a fetish hooker and amused myself that way.

So, Stephe… Reaver still annoyed me, right up until the finish. Especially when I had to help him flee from his house. Try double crossing me you bugger. At least he was kind of useful at picking people off. Meant I could really hammer the Inferno spell. There’s nothing quite as fun as setting big men on fire when they’re trying to kill you.
The battle with the shard was confusing. By the time I eventually figured out when and when not the thing could be hit (yes, I know they shout instructions at you, but I’m blonde, so you have to allow me some leeway) I was close to dead. Knocked out a few more times. I’m glad it just scars you and loses you experience points. If it meant you had to start again I’d have been done for. Felt much better when I was actually winning!
Actually, the thing that really upset me was not having a chance to heal my dog. First all the NPCs were talking at me, then I was glowing, then Lucian was doing his thing. Then the bastard shot my dog! Ok, so I knew it was coming but still! Was all geared up to wipe the floor with him. Which made the ending really REALLY bad.
I had geared myself up for a huge boss fight, me with the combined powers, and him sucking off the other heros (sorry couldn’t resists- sucking from the other heros). Then one hit and he was dead. I know I like to win, but seriously one hit?! I was so disappointed. I thought Theresa was going to be his evil sister, working with him and your real final boss, but no. Hope theres a ‘Fable 3′ and it has better ending. (Oh and don’t get me started on that bit where they make you a kid for the day again. WHY?! I do like the note at the end, even if its shmaltzy, just because I like the irony of doing all that then discovering your sister is hanging out in Heaven with the guy who killed her…)
To make myself feel better I cheated the endings. Save and quit so you can pick all three cards and thus get the achievments without replaying (even if its a game I would actually replay quite happily). And I ended with the love one- I may not have a family but I wanted my dog back! I’ll probably run around the world a bit more getting the other achievments, so I want my treasure hunter.
So my overall verdict- its a very good game, and the let down ending is saved by the side quests and how it allows you to carry on playing once the main story line has been finished. It’s fun. I loved some of the funny little side quests and it’s nice to see a game which keeps my interest that long. The main story was just long enough, and I get the feeling that I’ll be able to pick it up again in a months time and still enjoy playing it as if I hadn’t stopped. Plus, since it makes money when you’re offline I’ll be rich beyond my wildest dreams!
Achievments- 34 out of 53 (645 gamer points)
Currently aiming for- Not specifically aiming for anything anymore, although I am considering doing the gargoyle quest when I next play.
Favourite bit- Overall, I still think the side quests were best. Give me a game of daft little quests and assassin jobs any day.
Least favourite bit- The ending was a real let down, and I saw no real reason for going back to my childhood.
Currently wearing- The same as I was before, except different colours. There aren’t all that many nice clothes for the women. I wanted a hooker skirt, or some gypsy stuff.
